Coin #2 replaces the cat’s frontal tension with a broad mammoth profile, spiralling tusks and layered winter coat.
REVERSE DESIGN
The mammoth faces right, but the near tusk arcs back across the centre and the far tusk completes a second curve. Long engraved strokes build the coat; a low glacial ridge and conifers establish depth without competing with the animal.
PALEONTOLOGY CONTEXT
Woolly mammoths occupied northern Eurasia and North America during the Pleistocene. Coarse fur, insulating fat and grazing teeth suited cold steppe environments; Yukon’s Beringian landscape supported mammoths on grass- and herb-rich plains.
OBVERSE CHRONOLOGY
The obverse changes to King Charles III. This visible portrait transition separates the 2024 Coin #2 from the Elizabeth II obverse of 2023.
