The 2019 issue
This is the 1st documented standard Black Flag release. Coin facts and the reverse depiction are presented separately from the historical record behind the subject.
The reverse depicts Queen Anne's Revenge sailing through rough seas beneath a skull-shaped cloud, with Blackbeard's flag. Lucas Bowers is credited with the reverse design.
The published figure is a maximum of 15,000; no final declared total is shown.
History & legend
Blackbeard captured the French vessel La Concorde in 1717 and renamed it Queen Anne's Revenge. The ship grounded near Beaufort, North Carolina, in 1718. No contemporary portrait of Blackbeard is known, so the coin's ship-and-flag scene is a modern historical interpretation. The ship association and grounding are documented; the detailed appearance of the vessel and pirate flag on the coin should not be read as a contemporary visual record.

Design story
The coin presents Queen Anne's Revenge sailing through rough seas beneath a skull-shaped cloud, with Blackbeard's flag. The BLACK FLAG inscription, named subject, silver legend and P mintmark identify the release. Lucas Bowers is credited with the reverse design.
