生平
Mercanti joined the Mint in 1974 and worked across traditional and digital transitions in engraving. He became Chief Engraver in 2006 after years as a sculptor-engraver and retired in 2010.

His work combines conventional heraldry, crisp modeling, and production-focused relief. He frequently sculpted other artists' selected drawings as well as creating original designs. The Silver Eagle reverse circulated through the bullion program for more than three decades. His large body of design and sculpting credits illustrates the collaborative nature of the modern Mint studio.
