Built as a bullion depository, West Point became the center of modern precious-metal bullion and selected collector-coin production.
收藏意义
West Point demonstrates why absence of a mark does not prove Philadelphia origin. W issues span commemoratives, bullion, proofs, and the 2019-2020 circulating-quarter experiment.
历史沿革
Completed in 1938, the depository stored silver and earned the nickname Fort Knox of Silver. It struck cents without a mint mark beginning in 1973, produced medals from 1980, and gained official mint status in 1988. Today it is strongly associated with American Eagle and other precious-metal programs.
