READING THE COIN

Animal, landscape and the circular field

Emily Damstra opens the field into a prairie vista. The animal walks rather than confronts, and landscape becomes a habitat rather than a backdrop.

The pronghorn advances through layered prairie grasses with its head turned toward the viewer. Low hills complete a circular landscape behind the horns, and Damstra's ED initials are cut into the grass below the animal.
