Classification finding
No recurring official Japanese bullion program is verified
Official Japanese lists separate circulating coins, legal-tender commemoratives, and mint products. Some collector coins use gold, silver, or ounce weights, but their official identity, limited sale, proof finish, and program structure remain commemorative rather than recurring bullion. This is an evidence-based classification inference, not a claim that such coins lack precious-metal value.
Precious-metal commemorative
A government-authorized denomination and issue identity. Premium sale and proof finish do not turn it into a recurring bullion series.
Official mint medal
A Japan Mint object without denomination. Metal, hallmark, packaging, and sales method remain separate evidence fields.
Commercial offer
A coin or medal may be sold in a product with a price, capsule, case, and certificate; the product is not itself legal tender.

These checks reduce risk but do not replace qualified examination when value or identity is uncertain.
Protect soft gold surfaces
Gold resists tarnish but remains soft: prevent contact marks, capsule rub, fingerprints, and proof hairlines; unusual copper-colored spots require expert review, not rubbing.
Control silver exposure
Use inert PVC-free holders and stable humidity; limit sulfur, reactive paper, foam, and moisture. Toning, milk spots, and capsule haze are not corrected by home cleaning.
Handle dense platinum carefully
Platinum pieces are dense and can acquire contact marks or proof-surface damage. Use a fitted capsule and support the object over a soft clean surface.
Preserve applied color
Keep colored coins away from solvents, abrasion, scratching, and prolonged ultraviolet exposure. Grade the coin surface separately from damage to the applied color layer.
Do not touch proof surfaces
Handle only by the edge with clean inert gloves; mirrored fields and frost can be permanently impaired by fingerprints, wiping, haze, or capsule rub.
Inventory packaging separately
Record capsule, case, certificate, sleeve, booklet, product code, foam condition, moisture damage, and replacement parts independently; packaging condition is not a coin grade.
Do not clean collectible surfaces
Do not polish, dip, wipe, use solvents, or attempt spot removal. Stabilize the environment and obtain conservation advice when active contamination is suspected.
This catalog does not turn commemoratives into bullion, medals into legal tender, generic purity words into decimals, or historical issue prices into current valuations. Unknown values remain unavailable.
