An illustrator whose selected drawings have been translated by Mint sculptor-engravers into circulating, commemorative, and medal designs.

Biography

Iskowitz developed a broad illustration career before joining the Mint's Artistic Infusion Program in 2005. Under that program he supplies candidate drawings from outside the Mint rather than serving as an employee or Chief Engraver.

Style and legacy

His designs use narrative scenes, recognizable figures, and layered symbolic detail. Final coins depend on collaboration with the Mint artist who sculpts the selected drawing. Iskowitz represents the modern separation between external graphic design and internal sculptural execution. His credits therefore name both the selected designer and the sculptor where records permit.
