Five designs, five modern companion medals

Public input and expert review narrowed a longer list of historic U.S. coins to five designs for the anniversary series.

Each set combines a gold reissue of the historic coin with a one-ounce silver medal interpreting the design's era.

Obverse, reverse, and the details that identify the type

Confirm the major design, date, and mint mark before studying smaller die differences.

The main portrait and date

The gold coin preserves its selected historic obverse with a 250th-anniversary privy mark; the companion medal uses a new program-specific design.

Denomination, subject, and mint mark

Historic coin reverses and new medal reverses must be identified separately because a set contains two different numismatic objects.
